About This Role
Inquiry By Design is seeking an ELA/SLA Content Specialist to join our product team. This newly created role will contribute to the development of our 6–12 English Language Arts (ELA) and Spanish Language Arts (SLA) curricula and professional learning. The Content Specialist works closely with instructional designers to develop instructional content, assessments, and teacher resources. The ideal candidate has a strong background in 6–12 ELA/SLA instruction and assessment, experience with curriculum product development, and a commitment to supporting excellent teaching and professional learning in ELA and SLA.

Primary Responsibilities
- Contribute to and execute on curriculum revision plans (ELA and SLA).
- Provide insight on the curriculum revision plan with respect to multilingual learners.
- Utilize domain-specific expertise to create content for the IBD curriculum.
- Continuously grow knowledge in literacy and literacy pedagogy based on best practice and research, including multilingual learners.
- Further develop the Spanish Language Arts professional learning.
- Deliver ELA and SLA professional learning as needed, up to 12 in-person days per year.
- Support sales and marketing as requested, where needed as an SLA specialist.

- Ability to deliver professional learning in English and Spanish.
- Expert on education standards, pedagogy, and market/landscape trends.
- Deep knowledge of ELA assessment and instructional design principles.
- Expert knowledge of ELA state academic standards and curriculum frameworks.
- Strong foundational knowledge in evidence-based ELA and SLA instruction for secondary students, diverse learners, and multilingual learners.
- Strong skill set in recognizing alignment between content and standards/skills.
Qualifications:
- Teaching and curriculum experience required: 5+ years of experience as a 6 –12 ELA/SLA classroom teacher and/or ELA/SLA curriculum writing experience outside of a school district setting.
- Preference given to teaching experience in a dual language program.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) required: Fluency in reading, writing, and speaking Spanish. Must be able to conduct business conversations, translate documents, and provide customer support in both English and Spanish.
Compensation and Benefits:
- The pay range for this position is between $65,000 – $80,000 annually, however, pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.

The compensation range for this role takes into account the wide range of factors, including, but not limited to, prior experience and relevant skill sets. At IBD, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the salary range for the role, and compensation decisions are based on the specific facts and circumstances of each case.
