About This Role
Inquiry By Design is seeking an ELA Curriculum Specialist to join our curriculum team. This newly created role will contribute to the development of our 6-12 English Language Arts (ELA) curriculum. The Curriculum Specialist works closely with instructional designers to develop instructional content, assessments, and teacher resources. The ideal candidate has a strong background in 6-12 ELA instruction and assessment, experience with curriculum product development, and a commitment to supporting excellent teaching and learning of English Language Arts.

Primary Responsibilities
- Support the execution of project scope and design solutions as assigned.
- Create content for the 6 – 12 IBD curriculum, as assigned.
- Collaborate across teams to ensure consistency of messaging around the product.
- Participate in regular project team meetings.
- Streamline workflows to maximize efficiency within the project schedule
- Support the design of various components through all stages of work.
- Continuously grow knowledge in literacy and literacy pedagogy based on best practice and research.
- Support sales and marketing as requested, where needed as a literacy specialist.
- Deliver ELA professional learning as needed, up to 10 in-person days per year.

- Understand the challenges facing teachers and students in ELA.
- Highly organized and detail-oriented with a track record of meeting short and long-term responsibilities in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
- Ability to successfully adjust and retool when redirection is provided.
- Bring innovative ideas and resources to the table while working within the project’s scope.

Qualifications:
- 5+ years of experience as a 6 – 12 ELA classroom teacher and/or ELA curriculum writing experience outside of a school district setting.
- Expert on education standards, pedagogy, and market/landscape trends.
- Deep knowledge of ELA assessment and instructional design principles
- Expert knowledge of ELA state academic standards and curriculum frameworks
- Strong foundational knowledge in evidence-based ELA instruction for secondary students, diverse learners, and multilingual learners
- Strong skill set in recognizing alignment between content and standards/skills
- Ability to effectively and efficiently critique instructional content and suggest improvements
- Understand best practices in curriculum development
- Familiarity with national curriculum review organizations and processes
Compensation and Benefits:
- The pay range for this position is between $75,500 – $95,000 annually, however, pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.

The compensation range for this role takes into account the wide range of factors, including, but not limited to, prior experience and relevant skill sets. At IBD, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the salary range for the role, and compensation decisions are based on the specific facts and circumstances of each case.
